The Issues: LGBTQIA+ Rights and Protections

Back to All Issues

Every individual deserves to live without fear of discrimination or persecution. At CUNTS-PAC, we believe that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights, and that it's imperative to create a society where everyone can thrive, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Current State of LGBTQIA+ Rights

Despite progress made in recent years, LGBTQIA+ individuals continue to face significant barriers and challenges in their daily lives. Discrimination in employment, housing, healthcare, and public accommodations is still a harsh reality for many. The lack of comprehensive anti-discrimination laws at the federal level leaves LGBTQIA+ individuals vulnerable to mistreatment and marginalization.

Our Vision for LGBTQIA+ Rights and Protections

We envision a world where every LGBTQIA+ individual can live without fear of persecution or discrimination. To achieve this, we advocate for:

Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Laws. We support the passage of the Equality Act or similar legislation at the federal level, which would provide explicit protections for LGBTQIA+ individuals in employment, housing, healthcare, and public accommodations.

Inclusive Policies. We push for policies that acknowledge and address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals, particularly those who intersect with other marginalized communities.

Education and Awareness. We believe that education is key to breaking down barriers and promoting understanding. We support initiatives that educate the public about LGBTQIA+ issues and promote empathy and inclusivity.

What We're Fighting For

We're fighting for a world where LGBTQIA+ individuals can...

work without fear of being fired or harassed because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

access safe and affordable housing, free from discrimination.

receive quality, culturally competent healthcare, including mental health services.

participate fully in public life, free from fear of persecution or marginalization.
