The Issues: Housing & Homelessness
Back to All Issues
At CUNTS-PAC, we believe that every individual deserves a safe and stable place to call home. Unfortunately, many LGBTQIA+ individuals face significant barriers to housing and are disproportionately represented among the homeless population. We are committed to advocating for the rights and needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness.
The Challenges Faced by LGBTQIA+ Individuals
LGBTQIA+ individuals face numerous challenges in accessing safe and affordable housing, including:
- Discrimination by landlords and property managers
- Lack of access to affordable housing options
- High rates of homelessness among LGBTQIA+ youth and adults
- Limited access to housing programs and services that cater to the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals
Our Vision for Housing and Homelessness
We envision a world where every LGBTQIA+ individual has access to safe, affordable, and inclusive housing, without fear of discrimination or marginalization. To achieve this, we advocate for:
- Increased access to affordable housing options
- Improved protection from discrimination in housing
- Increased funding for housing programs and services that cater to the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals
- Improved data collection and research on LGBTQIA+ housing instability and homelessness
What We're Fighting For
We're fighting for a world where:
- LGBTQIA+ individuals can access safe and affordable housing without fear of discrimination or marginalization.
- LGBTQIA+ individuals have access to housing programs and services that cater to their unique needs.
- LGBTQIA+ individuals are protected from discrimination in housing and have access to inclusive and welcoming housing environments.
